What is the United States Government political behavior? In the United States there are two major government parties. The Republican and the Democratic parties. Both parties started with the right to ratify the constitution. The parties both started as the Federalist and the Anti-Federalists. The Democrats which were led by Thomas Jefferson were known as the Democratic Republicans. The Democratic Party was founded in 1828, In the history of the Presidential Elections of the U.S. fifteen presidents have held office being Democrats. The Republican party on the other hand which was founded by Alexander Hamilton was formed in 1854, having 18 presidents held office as Republicans. Here in the U.S. we have different voting options, for example we have open and closed primaries. The difference between the two are that in an open primary any one eligible to vote may do so without having any party affiliation. Whereas in a closed primary only eligible voters with a party affiliation may vote. A political race is funded by a PAC or a Political Action Committee. PAC’s are formed from interest groups to raise money for a political party or candidate. There are many different types of groups for example, Economic Interest Groups, Business Groups, Trade Associations, and also groups that promote causes and welfare. They influence much of the political campaign because the more money they provide a candidate with the more chances of them getting elected. There has been many speculations over these PAC’s, therefore the government has put in place various laws to prohibit any unfairness in a political campaign. One of these methods is the Federal Election Commission which inhibits the amount of money which could be given to a candidate running for office.
